Anchored by a 5,000+ seat, class A minor, league stadium with 16 sky boxes, this multi-use development master plan proposes to bring professional baseball to the quaint and historic borough of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Detailed in the 102 page Project Scope Analysis / Feasibility Study, the stadium design draws from the past architecture and urban planning of historic famed baseball parks such as Shibe Park in Philadelphia and Ebbets Field in Brooklyn.
The design also blends contextually with the surrounding Victorian and Greek Revival architectural styles of the Borough. During the 19th century, the classical revival architecture earned West Chester the title “the Athens of the West.” It is in this spirit that the style of the ballpark will be enhanced with the exuberant, ornate and decorative elements within the facade. Behind home plate patrons will find museums including the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Philadelphia Athletics Society, and Chester County Sports Hall of Fame. A library and theater for educational venues support the three museums.
Other multi-use facilities throughout the planning process have included 6,000 sf of playground, a 41,500 sf field house, a 3 story 32,000sf hotel, retail and office businesses totally over 200,000 sf, restaurants and also a 127,000 sf convocation center.
